Position Overview

The primary role of the Sales and Management Intern is to support our mission of delivering an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. Interns will engage in various sales, merchandising, and operational activities as directed by store leadership, including tasks such as cashiering, product display, and maintaining store cleanliness.

Collaborate closely with the Store Manager to gain insights into the retail business and develop management skills.

Sales and Customer Engagement

- Welcome customers with a warm and engaging demeanor, consistently ready to provide outstanding service.
- Address inquiries about the store and its offerings.
- Suggest, select, and assist in locating or acquiring products based on customer preferences.
- Anticipate customer needs by recommending additional items and creating a comprehensive shopping experience.
- Showcase products using knowledge and sales training, sharing insights with team members.
- Stay informed about current promotions, payment policies, and security protocols.
- Meet or exceed personal sales goals and contribute to overall store sales objectives.

Provide exceptional service in key areas: sales floor, fitting rooms, and checkout.


- Assist customers with trying on or fitting items.
- Process transactions and package purchases.
- Prepare items for alterations.
- Be well-versed in exchange and return policies.
- Utilize the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to achieve objectives.

Strive to meet performance benchmarks in guest loyalty initiatives.


- Facilitate special orders or contact other locations to source desired items.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to foster a client-focused business.
- Understand and uphold Buckle's customer service standards to meet diverse customer needs.
- Maintain high standards consistently, regardless of managerial presence.

Team Development and Training

- Identify recruitment opportunities through various channels.
- Maintain a positive atmosphere to enhance team culture.

Visual Merchandising

- Present products effectively to maximize sales and optimize inventory turnover.
- Stay updated on product offerings.
- Collaborate with team members and customers to gather feedback on products.
- Ensure the sales floor is well-organized and new stock is displayed appropriately.

Operational Duties

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
- Manage cash registers, including cash handling and balancing drawers.
- Recognize and address security risks and theft prevention measures.
- Adhere to Loss Prevention guidelines, including daily checks.
- Understand and implement Point of Sale (POS) procedures.
- Execute all policies related to payments, exchanges, and loss prevention.
- Perform merchandising tasks, including freight handling and display preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment to support Buckle's mission.
- Provide feedback to management regarding merchandise handling.

Communicate any policy violations or concerns to management promptly.


- Uphold Buckle's Code of Ethics and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Internship Responsibilities

- Complete required training modules as outlined in the Buckle Management Manual.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding progress and reports.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Buckle's products and merchandising strategies.

Apply knowledge by managing a specific product category, setting sales targets, and tracking results.


- Lead and inspire the team by monitoring performance metrics.

Qualifications

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; prior experience is not required.

Additional Requirements

- Commitment to a long-term career with Buckle.
- No visa sponsorship is available.

Physical Requirements

- The physical demands described are representative of those necessary to perform essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, and communicate effectively. Occasionally required to sit and lift up to 30 lbs.


Work Environment

- This role is typically performed in a retail store setting with a moderate noise level.
