Position Summary
The Fire Safety Senior Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing proactive flight safety initiatives, engaging in field investigations, and conducting thorough safety evaluations.

This position necessitates collaboration with a diverse array of business and engineering teams, both within GE Aviation and externally.

Importance of Flight Safety
A proactive Flight Safety program is essential for the success of GE Aviation and our clientele.

Key Responsibilities
This role is integral to the proactive management strategy of Flight Safety at GE Aviation, focusing specifically on fire safety:

  • Facilitate proactive assessments and develop fire hazard mitigation strategies, including root cause analyses and risk evaluations, in conjunction with engineering and project teams.
  • Support flight safety initiatives, conduct field investigations, and execute safety assessments.
  • Advocate for enhancements in Flight Safety and fire safety for new aircraft engine designs, ensuring compliance with technical and program specifications.
  • Generate and disseminate statistical analyses of fleet risk in alignment with established GE Aviation protocols.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of technical data produced for assigned projects in accordance with engineering standards.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, business challenges, and significant developments.

Leadership and Collaboration
Lead or engage in organizational efforts for assigned projects, participating in technical and program reviews where Flight Safety and Reliability topics are addressed.

Expertise in Fire Safety
Act as the fire safety subject matter expert for new engine development programs, promoting fire prevention and safety in engine designs.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
  • Hands-on knowledge of fire behavior in both metallic and non-metallic materials.

Preferred Skills
Desirable characteristics include:

  • A degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Capability to develop analytical models (heat transfer/fluid flow) to support investigations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of combustion, explosion dynamics, fire modeling, and detection/suppression systems.
  • Familiarity with aircraft fire safety regulations and certification processes.
  • Experience with commercial aircraft engine programs and operations.

Communication and Leadership
Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to guide and influence peers, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate teamwork capabilities and possess strong analytical skills for data presentation.
