Position Overview

As a Recreation Program Coordinator at Phoenix Job Corps Center, you will collaborate with the Recreation team to deliver a well-rounded and engaging recreation program for students. Your responsibilities will include managing recreational activities according to the established schedule, with a strong focus on promoting health and wellness. You will play a crucial role in fostering personal development, teamwork, and leadership skills through the design and execution of recreational initiatives. These programs are intended to motivate and engage students while contributing to their overall growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute a variety of recreational activities, including sports, fitness initiatives, outdoor excursions, and team-building exercises.
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment that promotes personal development, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Mentor and guide students, assisting them in building social skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to integrate recreational activities into the broader educational and vocational framework.
  • Evaluate student progress, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere for all participants, adhering to safety regulations and protocols.
  • Maintain integrity by following all guidelines and procedures, ensuring accurate student data management.
  • Assist in overseeing a comprehensive and diverse recreation program.
  • Coordinate recreation activities with community resources and social development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and program guidelines.

Qualifications:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate's Degree or one year of relevant experience working with youth is preferred. A valid in-state driver's license is necessary, and meeting company insurability requirements is essential. A CDL is preferred.

Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, lift, pull, push, carry, reach, stoop, and crouch. Candidates must demonstrate the capability to lift 40 pounds and assess lifting loads to request assistance when needed.
