Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Compensation & Benefits Coordinator will be tasked with managing and executing all facets of payroll operations and benefits management. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, exceptional organizational abilities, and a strong commitment to payroll and benefits practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll Management

  • Accurately process biweekly payroll, ensuring adherence to company protocols and relevant laws.
  • Calculate earnings, deductions, and adjustments, encompassing overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation components.
  • Verify and reconcile payroll information, including hours worked, multi-state tax obligations, and various deductions.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Maintain payroll documentation, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.

Benefits Management

  • Oversee employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, and short-term disability.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, modifications, and inquiries, providing necessary guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with benefits providers, brokers, and vendors to ensure seamless administration and address any issues.
  • Stay informed on changes in benefits legislation and industry trends to ensure compliance and competitive offerings.
  • Conduct benefits orientations for new hires and facilitate communication regarding updates and changes.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll and benefits regulations, including tax withholding and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related documentation, such as tax filings and benefits reports.
  • Support audits concerning payroll, benefits, and employee records, providing accurate documentation as needed.
  • Complete various forms related to domestic relations, child support, and other payroll inquiries.

Process Improvement and Documentation

  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll and benefits processes, improving efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain payroll and benefits policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Implement payroll and benefits system upgrades, collaborating with IT and other stakeholders for smooth transitions.

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety Standards.
  • Adhere to food safety management procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Report food safety and quality issues to appropriate personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, effectively interacting with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information discreetly.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively, adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience (required).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits management (required).
  • Certifications in payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional, CPP) or benefits administration (e.g., Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, CEBS) are preferred.
  • Experience with Paylocity HRIS is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
