WORKING HOURS:

The Housing Intake and Support Specialist is an exempt role responsible for conducting comprehensive intake screenings and assessments, providing benefits assistance, and offering resource and referral services to individuals seeking housing solutions. This position typically operates during standard business hours but may require flexibility for early mornings, evenings, and weekends, particularly during peak service seasons.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The specialist manages all intake and assessment processes for housing services, facilitating benefits navigation and housing advocacy. Responsibilities include overseeing admissions and referrals from various sources, utilizing established criteria to assist individuals with their housing needs, and coordinating access to healthcare and other essential services. The specialist also plays a crucial role in rapid rehousing initiatives, including emergency stabilization and the development of a landlord network.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate the application process for housing programs and services.
  2. Utilize assessment guidelines to determine service eligibility.
  3. Collaborate with partner organizations to respond to referrals and provide follow-up.
  4. Assist clients in enrolling for benefits and accessing necessary medical services.
  5. Conduct intake screenings and maintain waiting lists.
  6. Refer clients to appropriate services based on their needs.
  7. Provide rapid rehousing services, including stabilization and landlord network management.
Administrative Duties:
  1. Maintain accurate client records in the electronic database.
  2. Collaborate with grant managers on funding-related processes.
  3. Compile necessary reports, including grant and departmental reports.
  4. Ensure timely authorization for service payments.
  5. Conduct housing inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
General Requirements:
  1. Assist management as directed and participate in team meetings.
  2. Maintain effective communication and resolve client concerns.
  3. Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  4. Utilize technology for data management and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or a related field.
  2. Experience in intake, social work, or case management preferred.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  4. Excellent communication and crisis management skills.
TRIBAL AND INDIAN PREFERENCE:

In accordance with applicable laws, preference will be given to qualified applicants who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian tribe or band.

EDUCATION:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  1. Proficiency in English; ability to communicate in additional languages is a plus.
  2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
