Job Summary

Marcum LLP is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Services and Tax Manager to join our growing national firm in Costa Mesa, CA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-level review and compilation services, developing an understanding of our clients' businesses, and anticipating and addressing their concerns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes for various clients, including preparation of journal entries, revenue recognition, and financial analysis.
  • Review, consult, and implement clients' accounting activities, including AR & AP procedures, payroll processing, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Provide consulting services and establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and tax laws and regulations.
  • Ensure complete client satisfaction through open communication, managing expectations, and meeting deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and optimize operating and accounting procedures.
  • Project manage one or more client assignments simultaneously, using effective project management techniques and organization of resources to ensure achievement of assignment objectives.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years prior experience with 2+ years significant supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of accounting systems, including Excel and QuickBooks, and experience with ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting & GAAP, as well as sales tax, property tax, 1099s, and payroll tax.
  • Experience with process management, understanding of flow of transactions, and QB Online and Desktop experience required.
  • Tax preparation experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel and Word proficient) and the ability to learn and interface using other accounting software as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task and decisively execute solutions to problems.
  • Thorough understanding of complex technical issues with ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
