Senior Manager, Tax

Company Overview

Alliance Resource Group is collaborating with a rapidly expanding multi-entity real estate investment firm, specializing in the healthcare sector. This organization boasts over $2 billion in assets and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13%. We are seeking a seasoned professional with a CPA or JD in Taxation and 8 to 15 years of experience in a National CPA firm, ideally with 1-2 years in corporate taxation.

Position Summary

The Corporate Senior Tax Manager will act as a proficient tax expert with robust skills in income tax provisions and substantial experience in federal corporate taxation. This role encompasses the management of the Company's daily and long-term direct tax compliance and strategic planning. The position will also involve various responsibilities in tax accounting, reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and guide tax managers, seniors, and staff within the Tax department.
  • Establish, execute, and manage operational objectives while monitoring performance and profitability in designated areas.
  • Stay updated on current tax legislation and changes in tax laws.
  • Exhibit strong research and documentation skills to substantiate positions and engage with external stakeholders.
  • Develop efficient schedules while managing labor costs and achieving internal customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process, providing insights and ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Manage components of monthly ASC 740 compliance and reporting.
  • Supervise and review federal and state income tax returns along with quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Analyze tax-sensitive general ledger accounts and activities, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Conduct technical research and analysis regarding tax strategies and compliance issues.
  • Design and enhance procedures for proactive identification and resolution of tax-related challenges.
  • Engage in special projects and ad hoc analyses as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all departmental and company matters.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; six or more years of experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Leadership experience is essential. CPA designation is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state income tax principles, along with income tax accounting standards, including ASC 740.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and experienced with tax provision and return preparation software.
  • Knowledge of tax accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to perform the tasks of subordinates as necessary.
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and processes simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Effective presentation skills and the ability to respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage with colleagues and resolve conflicts in a diplomatic manner.
