Department: Environmental Resources Trust (ERT) – ACR

About ACR:

ACR is a globally recognized program dedicated to carbon crediting, operating within both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. As a nonprofit entity under Winrock International, ACR has been a pioneer since 1996, establishing the first private greenhouse gas (GHG) registry worldwide. Our mission is to leverage market mechanisms to enhance environmental quality. With over two decades of expertise, ACR has developed rigorous methodologies and carbon accounting standards, overseeing high-quality GHG project listings, verifications, registrations, and reporting.

As an independent carbon credit standards body, ACR is an approved Offset Project Registry for significant programs such as California's Cap-and-Trade and Washington State's Cap-and-Invest. Additionally, ACR is recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for supplying emission reduction credits to airlines under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). Our program has been assessed and approved as a Core Carbon Principles (CCP)-Eligible program by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM), positioning ACR for new compliance offset markets and increased visibility in the global voluntary carbon market.
