Arlington, Virginia, United States Winrock International Full time
Position Overview

Role: Senior Manager Stakeholder Engagement

Location: Remote options available for US-based candidates

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager Stakeholder Engagement plays a pivotal role within Winrock International, providing essential support to the Managing Director and other team members in executing the stakeholder engagement program. This position emphasizes collaboration with external stakeholders, gathering insights and feedback, crafting outreach materials, fulfilling due diligence requests, reviewing documents, and preparing reports.

Winrock International is dedicated to delivering expert guidance and responsive service to its stakeholders. The Senior Manager will possess a comprehensive understanding of REDD+ quantification and monitoring techniques, as well as the carbon market landscape. The incumbent will contribute to the efficient management of ART while ensuring high-quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of all ART program requirements, including technical and safeguard criteria.
  • Assist ART's stakeholders—such as jurisdictions, buyers, reviewers, and NGOs—by developing training sessions, targeted communication materials, and providing necessary support.
  • Facilitate ART's application to relevant certification bodies and maintain necessary approvals to enhance ART's market positioning.
  • Monitor key developments in the market and initiatives, assessing their relevance to the ART program and determining ART's potential involvement.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on TREES documents submitted for Secretariat evaluation.
  • Lead or support the development and updates of ART Standards, templates, guidance documents, tools, and other program materials.
  • Coordinate expert committees as required, including the preparation of meeting materials and drafting memoranda.
  • Create technical analyses, presentations, outreach materials, and reports to aid in the implementation of the ART program.
  • Represent ART in industry forums and speaking engagements as appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation of summary materials for the ART Board and present on relevant technical topics.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND

Education: Advanced degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Carbon Accounting, or a related discipline.

Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in REDD+/forest carbon and voluntary or compliance carbon markets is required, with preference for candidates with greater experience. Familiarity with REDD+ accounting and quantification methods, fundamental greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting principles, and verification standards is essential. Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: working for an environmental NGO, engaging with REDD+ and carbon market working groups, or conducting technical reviews of carbon accounting methodologies.

Skills:

  • Expertise in quantifying emissions from deforestation and degradation, as well as removals at a jurisdictional level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of voluntary and regulated carbon markets, including CORSIA and the Paris Agreement, and an understanding of ART's positioning within these markets.
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication abilities.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish and French, is a plus.
  • Proficient in managing project operations and workflows effectively, with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and a diplomatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Capacity to interact professionally and courteously with others, maintaining positive relationships and teamwork.
  • Ability to work independently to ensure timely completion of high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.

Other: Willingness to travel for short-term assignments is required. A commitment to Winrock's mission and an interest in market-based solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions are essential. Candidates should be comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and able to work effectively both in teams and independently.

Winrock International is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace. We value the contributions of all individuals and strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive.
