Position Title: Senior Manager Stakeholder Engagement

Location: Remote or flexible options available

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager Stakeholder Engagement plays a crucial role within Winrock International, offering essential support to the Managing Director and the broader team in executing the organization's initiatives, particularly in fostering relationships with external stakeholders. This position emphasizes collaboration with external partners, gathering insights and feedback, creating outreach materials, fulfilling due diligence requests, reviewing documents, and drafting reports.

Winrock International is dedicated to delivering expert guidance and responsive services to its participants, jurisdictions, and stakeholders. The Senior Manager will possess a comprehensive understanding of REDD+ quantification and monitoring methodologies as well as the carbon market landscape. The role involves ensuring that Winrock operates efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of all program requirements, including technical and safeguard criteria.
  • Assist stakeholders such as jurisdictions, buyers, reviewers, and NGOs by developing training sessions, targeted communication materials, and providing necessary support.
  • Facilitate Winrock's applications to relevant certification bodies and manage approvals to enhance market positioning.
  • Monitor significant market developments and initiatives, evaluating their potential relevance to Winrock's programs.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on documents submitted for internal review.
  • Lead or support the creation and updates of standards, templates, guidance documents, and other program-related materials.
  • Coordinate expert committees as required, including preparing meeting documents and drafting memoranda.
  • Generate technical analyses, presentations, outreach materials, and reports to aid in program implementation.
  • Represent Winrock in industry forums and public speaking opportunities as appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation of summary materials for the Board and present on relevant technical topics.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND

Education: Advanced degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Carbon Accounting, or a related discipline.

Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in REDD+/forest carbon and voluntary or compliance carbon markets is required, with a preference for candidates with greater experience. Familiarity with REDD+ accounting and quantification methods, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting principles, and verification standards is essential. Experience with environmental NGOs, engagement in REDD+ and carbon market working groups, or conducting technical reviews of carbon methodologies is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of methods for quantifying emissions from deforestation and degradation at a jurisdictional level.
  • Comprehensive understanding of voluntary and regulated carbon markets, including CORSIA and the Paris Agreement, and how Winrock fits within these frameworks.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish and French, is advantageous.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to track and meet deadlines across multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, integrity, and a diplomatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and positive relationships in a team environment.
  • Capacity to work independently and deliver high-quality results in a timely manner.
  • Robust technical and analytical abilities.

Other: Willingness to travel for short-term assignments is necessary. A commitment to Winrock's mission and an interest in market-based solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions are essential. Candidates should be comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and able to work collaboratively as well as independently.
