POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager Stakeholder Engagement plays a pivotal role within Winrock International, providing essential support to the Managing Director and other team members in executing the stakeholder engagement program. This position emphasizes collaboration with external stakeholders, synthesizing their insights and feedback, crafting outreach materials, fulfilling due diligence requests, reviewing documents, and preparing reports.

Winrock International is dedicated to delivering expert technical guidance and responsive service to participants, jurisdictions, and stakeholders. The Senior Manager will possess an in-depth understanding of REDD+ quantification and monitoring methodologies as well as the carbon market landscape. The individual will contribute to the efficient management of ART while ensuring high-quality outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of all ART program requirements, including technical and safeguard standards in TREES.
  • Assist ART's stakeholders, including jurisdictions, buyers, reviewers, and NGOs, by developing and providing training sessions, targeted communication materials, and addressing inquiries.
  • Facilitate ART's application to relevant certification bodies and maintain necessary approvals to enhance ART's market positioning.
  • Monitor significant market developments and initiatives, evaluating their potential relevance to the ART program and determining ART's appropriate role.
  • Review and provide detailed feedback on TREES documents submitted for Secretariat evaluation under ART.
  • Support and/or lead the creation and updates of ART Standards, templates, guidance documents, tools, and other program materials.
  • Coordinate expert committees as required, including preparing meeting materials and drafting memoranda.
  • Generate technical analyses, presentations, outreach materials, and reports to aid in the implementation of the ART program.
  • Represent ART in industry groups and at speaking engagements as appropriate.
  • Assist in preparing summary materials for the ART Board and present on technical topics as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND

Education: Advanced degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Carbon Accounting, or a related discipline.

Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in REDD+/forest carbon and voluntary or compliance carbon markets is required, with a preference for candidates with greater experience. Familiarity with REDD+ accounting and quantification methods, fundamental greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting principles, and verification and auditing standards is essential. Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: working for an environmental NGO, engaging with REDD+ and carbon market working groups, and/or conducting technical reviews of carbon accounting methodologies.

Skills:

  • Expertise in quantifying emissions from deforestation and degradation and removals at a jurisdictional level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of voluntary and regulated carbon markets, including CORSIA and the Paris Agreement, and understanding ART's positioning within these markets.
  • Exceptional speaking, presentation, and written communication abilities.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required; proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish and French, is a plus.
  • Proficient in managing project operations and workflows effectively, ensuring deadlines are met across multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and a diplomatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with others, maintaining a positive attitude and fostering good working relationships in a team environment.
  • Capacity to work independently to ensure timely completion of high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong technical and analytical capabilities.

Other: Willingness to travel for short-term assignments is necessary. A commitment to Winrock's mission and an interest in market-based strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions are required. Candidates should be comfortable in a flexible, fast-paced environment and capable of working effectively both in teams and independently.
