Position Summary

The Greenlining Institute is seeking a bold, strategic, and collaborative leader for the role of Vice President of People and Culture Development (VP P&CD). This position is crucial for enhancing our legacy of promoting economic opportunity and empowering communities of color. The VP P&CD will ensure the organization consistently meets its mission and financial goals while positioning for strategic growth with a steadfast commitment to equity.

This leadership role is responsible for implementing people-centric strategies that support staff throughout their employment journey. The objective is to cultivate a culture that advances our mission while providing leadership development opportunities across the organization, particularly for participants of the Leadership Academy. The VP P&CD will engage internally and externally, collaborating with the board, partners, and staff to navigate the complexities of unionization and collective bargaining, ensuring compliance with legal standards and fostering positive labor relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Direction: Collaborate with the President to oversee the strategic and operational aspects of Talent Development, including Human Resources, Payroll, and the Leadership Academy.
  • Leadership Engagement: Serve as a vital member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic decisions impacting the organization.
  • Cultural Advocacy: Embody and promote the organization’s values, fostering an inclusive and innovative culture.
  • Workforce Management: Lead initiatives that enhance employee engagement and promote a positive workplace culture aligned with our mission.
  • Union Relations: Provide training and guidance on effective practices within a unionized environment, including grievance handling and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in an executive role with a proven track record in organizational development and human resources.
  • Strong commitment to advancing equity and inclusion for communities of color.
  • Extensive experience in HR practices, unionization, and collective bargaining.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to represent the organization effectively.
  • Ability to build and motivate high-performing teams that exhibit trust and accountability.

This position reports directly to the President and CEO and is classified as Salaried, Exempt (FLSA). The scope of responsibilities may evolve as organizational needs change, with specific performance targets established annually.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience, accompanied by comprehensive benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance for employees and dependents, life and long-term disability insurance, and a 5% annual salary match for the 401(k) retirement plan. The organization supports work-life balance with a 35-hour work week and hybrid work options, along with generous paid time off policies.
