Position Overview:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will play a pivotal role in leading the East Oakland Community Project (EOCP) with a commitment to serving the community of East Oakland. EOCP stands as a vital resource for individuals facing homelessness, providing essential and respectful services tailored to the immediate needs of each person.

Reporting Structure:
The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The CEO will oversee the Senior Management Team, which includes the Quality Assurance Director, Human Resources Manager, Finance Controller, Managing Director of Transitional Housing Services, Managing Director of Family and Youth Shelter Services, and Program Director at Crossroads.

Employment Status:
This is a full-time position, with 90% of work conducted on-site and 10% at various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: The CEO is responsible for the daily management of operations, capacity building, and program oversight. They will serve as the primary internal decision-maker for operational matters, consulting with the Board on significant policy-related decisions.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the board and staff to continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of EOCP's services and administrative capabilities, while identifying goals and strategies for program, financial, and infrastructure development.
  • External Representation: Act as the public face of EOCP, determining the best individuals to engage in strategic external communications, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives.

Human Resources Management:
The CEO will have overall responsibility for the development, support, and retention of staff and volunteers, working closely with the Leadership Team to cultivate a positive and productive workplace culture aligned with EOCP's mission and values.

Fundraising and Development:
Oversee the implementation of strategies to build and maintain fruitful relationships with government entities, foundations, businesses, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. Develop and monitor financial outcomes from fee generation activities.

Financial Oversight:
Continuously monitor financial performance and implement necessary revisions to financial strategies. Ensure effective systems for service delivery through budget reporting and the use of financial data as a management tool for decision-making.

Community Engagement:
Build awareness of EOCP's impact within the community and sustain relationships with key nonprofit, business, and governmental partners to better serve the organization's mission.

Board Engagement:
Facilitate effective participation of the board in business planning, financial oversight, community outreach, and fundraising efforts. Support the recruitment and development of board members.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess seasoned experience in nonprofit management, with a successful track record in overseeing organizational programs, strategy, human resources, finances, and infrastructure. They should be a strategic thinker with a comprehensive understanding of the broader context of homelessness services, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
