We are seeking an individual with extensive experience in nonprofit financial management and administration, who is also dedicated to enhancing early childhood education. Our mission is to create a secure, inclusive environment for underserved communities to foster a rich learning experience for children.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Financial Officer will oversee all financial operations and administrative functions, including human resources, operations, facilities, and IT. This role will serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director and will manage one direct report, the Finance & Operations Administrator. The successful candidate will assume financial responsibilities currently handled by a contracted part-time Accountant/Bookkeeper.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing a team of three or more.
  • Proven experience in nonprofit accounting, with at least 3 years at a management level working with nonprofit boards.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial controls, and nonprofit financial reporting.
  • At least 3 years of advanced experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, MS Excel, ADP, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with computer systems including Mac OS, MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience with HR/payroll software like ADP or similar systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Two years of experience in benefits administration and compliance with employment laws.
  • Strong project management skills in finance, administration, human resources, and vendor relations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills for presentations to the Board and stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Experience managing budgets exceeding $2 million.
  • Experience in donor engagement and fundraising.
  • Experience in facility maintenance and emergency operations planning.

Physical Requirements

  • Communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and during video conferences.

Compensation & Benefits
