We are seeking a Commercial Lending Relationship Manager to enhance our Commercial Lending division and drive business growth.

The Commercial Lending Relationship Manager is responsible for cultivating and nurturing business lending connections with small businesses and lower middle-market enterprises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market and sell commercial loan offerings to potential clients to achieve or surpass established production targets.
  • Prepare and submit call reports to the AVP of Commercial Lending as necessary.
  • Cross-sell additional business and non-business services provided by Suffolk Credit Union.
  • Present business loan credit memos to the Management Loan Committee.
  • Engage with targeted prospects and referral sources, including brokers, to generate new business opportunities.
  • Advise members on business loan options.
  • Provide support to other departmental staff as required.
  • Maintain a minimum of a "Satisfactory" rating on internal audits and evaluations.
  • Contribute to the credit union's mission by performing relevant tasks as requested by management or colleagues.

Essential Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a year-for-year basis.

A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in commercial lending is required.

Candidates should demonstrate a successful track record in sourcing commercial loans, consistently achieving $25MM/year in bookings.

Prior credit training experience is essential.

  • In-depth knowledge of non-portfolio lending.
  • Understanding of loan participations and the associated processes.
  • Familiarity with commercial loan application and approval standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit union loan policies and relevant regulations, including Truth in Lending, HMDA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Uniform Commercial Code, HUD, RESPA, Fair Housing Act, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
  • Awareness of credit union products, services, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply loan policies and objectives.
  • Strong computer and software proficiency.
  • Exceptional member/customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated credit analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to report and summarize complex financial and statistical information.
  • Independent problem-solving skills.
  • Conflict resolution abilities.
  • Intermediate mathematical proficiency.
  • Effective communication skills with members and external parties.
  • Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Capacity to manage multiple and complex deadlines.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
