Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Subawards Associate to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our research administration team, you will play a critical role in developing and modifying outgoing sub agreements under prime federal grants, foundation awards, and internal accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Subaward Development: Modify federal contract agreements, review Subaward Workflow Information Tracking (SWIFT) System requests for accuracy and completeness of record, and request additional information/documentation from the department as needed.
  • Database Management: Update subaward's database records consistently and determine the appropriate template to use for sub agreements based on information provided by department administrators.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Complete compliance checks (e.g., IRB, IACUC, Risk ratings, COI) and create or modify Purchase Order Numbers as necessary.
  • Communication and Negotiation: Assist subrecipients with questions/issues, negotiate contract language with subrecipients, and process partially executed agreements for signature.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist JHU P.I. and department administrators with questions and SAP/PO-related issues, maintain current knowledge of developments in legislation and sponsor requirements affecting sub agreements, and prepare documents and aid Assistant Directors with JHU P.I./department trainings upon request.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: Three years' experience in research administration, one year of which is in a sponsored research environment
  • Skills: Some familiarity with legal principles of negotiation and grant administration, strong typing and computer skills (Word, Access, Excel), excellent spelling and grammar, and the ability to communicate clearly
