Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Grant Specialist to join our team at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing all grants and contracts awarded to the Division of Gerontology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee all grants and contracts awarded to the Division of Gerontology, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and University policies.
  • Prepare and finalize grant and contract budgets and applications, utilizing advanced knowledge of various software programs, including Excel, Access, Kuali, and eUMB.
  • Provide consultation, advice, and directions to faculty/PIs regarding grant and/or contracting issues, utilizing outstanding organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Translate program requirements into contract terms, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and University policies.
  • Review sponsor guidelines and requests for proposals, and communicate compliance and eligibility information to research faculty and staff.
  • Maintain all close documentation for the department and sub-awards, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Interpret data for financial performance and develop financial reports for analysis, forecasting, and trending.
  • Develop safeguards to ensure the integrity of grant administration or contracts and protect the University from financial losses.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of directly related contract, grant, or research administration experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of various software programs, including Excel, Access, Kuali, and eUMB.
  • Knowledge of best practices in research administration.

  • Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple ongoing and new projects in a fast-paced academic environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others while maintaining a lead role.

Compensation

$90,000 - $100,000 (commensurate with education and experience).
