Job Summary

The Lieber Institute for Brain Development is seeking a highly skilled Grants Administrator to join our research operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the entire grant process from development to submission and post-award stages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Award Management
    • Collaborate with Principal Investigators and administrative departments to prepare and submit grant applications in accordance with LIBD and sponsor timelines.
    • Ensure all necessary components stated in the funding announcement and sponsor regulations are taken into account and communicated to the PI during application preparation.
    • Organize Grant review committee meetings, maintain Grants SOP, and coordinate the pre-award grant approval process.
  • Post-Award Management
    • Review applications to appraise programmatic and operational needs and communicate those to Research Administration and Project Management.
    • Ensure proposals are complete and in compliance with all sponsor regulations.
    • Prepare final award paperwork post-award as per the NOA, including final budget setup and operations timelines.
    • Manage fiscal and programmatic compliance post-award and work closely with Project management and Finance to conduct monthly reconciliation and assist in budget forecasts.
  • Grant Portfolio Management
    • Act as primary liaison between PI's, sub-recipients, collaborators, and funding agencies.
    • Optimize and maintain a LIBD grants portfolio electronically using MS Access and SharePoint.
    • Maintain active NIH ORI and SAM account certifications.
    • Develop and update policies and procedures necessary for grants administration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, public health, non-profit management, or business management or similar field.
  • Experience directly preparing, submitting, and administering grants. NIH grant management experience is required.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities and ability to self-prioritize in a highly dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, requiring a high degree of independent action and adherence to strict timelines.
  • Proactive and flexible with rigorous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience with NIH Assist, eRA Commons, SharePoint, and grant management platforms are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cayuse is a plus.
