Position Overview:

A.R. Mays Construction, a prominent commercial contracting firm in Arizona, is seeking a Head of Business Growth to enhance our market footprint in the region.

Ideal Candidate:

The successful applicant will possess established connections within the Phoenix Metro A/E/C sector and demonstrate a strong drive and ambition. This role is suited for individuals who excel in a dynamic, self-directed environment and have outstanding skills in building client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identify and generate new project opportunities, collaborating closely with the VP of Business Development, preconstruction, and marketing teams.
  • Assess, qualify, and pursue leads aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Conduct sales calls, meetings, and site evaluations effectively.
  • Provide precise weekly forecasts detailing deal values, statuses, key decision-makers, and closing strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with the VP of Business Development regarding market trends and relevant conditions.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills while showcasing excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Act as a liaison among clients, preconstruction, marketing, and other departments.
  • Participate in company meetings, conferences, trade shows, and industry events to bolster the company's image.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of our portfolio, services, and potential projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies for securing new project opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing requests for proposals (RFPs).
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of proven experience in prospecting, qualifying, and closing new accounts within the A/E/C environment.
  • Alternatively, relevant commercial brokerage or construction project management experience with a solid client base is acceptable.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software (Dynamics 365 is advantageous).
  • A self-starter with a professional demeanor and a strong work ethic.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • A motivated and driven individual capable of working independently to achieve results.
  • Exhibit integrity and support for the company's values while focusing on exceeding customer expectations.
Working Conditions:

The role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changes in tasks or schedules. Candidates should maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate integrity at all times. The position may require working 40 hours per week or more, along with travel to meet prospective clients.

Annual bonuses are subject to company profitability and individual performance.
