Position Overview

The Front Desk Student Office Assistant plays a crucial role in the Housing and Residence Life department, serving as a representative for the university and providing support to residents, students, families, and visitors. This role is designed to enhance skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, confidentiality, communication, customer service, and administrative tasks.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to various stakeholders, including prospective students, current residents, parents, and campus partners.
    • Manage a high volume of calls on a multi-line phone system.
    • Welcome and assist walk-in visitors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Housing Assistant and the Assistant Directors of Housing & Residence Life.
    • Organize and file documentation efficiently.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Utilize software applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, StarRez) for daily tasks.
  • Create and update housing-related documents and templates.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in recruitment events on campus.
  • Make outgoing calls to current and prospective residents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Residence Life leadership team.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be an enrolled student at Middle Georgia State University.
  • Must be registered for a minimum of 6 credit hours.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to campus culture.
  • Possess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or former resident of the university's housing facilities.
  • Previous experience in customer service roles.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Professional demeanor and positive representation of the university.
