Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Housing and the Housing Assistant, the Front Desk Student Office Assistant acts as a representative for University Housing and Residence Life, providing support to residents, students, families, and visitors. This role offers the opportunity to develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, confidentiality, communication, customer service, and administrative tasks.


Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to various stakeholders, including prospective students, current residents, parents, community members, and campus partners.
    • Manage a high volume of calls using a multi-line telephone system.
    • Welcome and assist walk-in visitors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Housing Assistant, Assistant Directors of Housing & Residence Life, and the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
    • Process and organize documentation.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Utilize various computer systems (Outlook, Excel, Word, StarRez).
  • Create, maintain, and update Housing-related documents and templates.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in recruitment events on campus.
  • Make outgoing calls to current and prospective residents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Residence Life Lead Housing Staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be a currently enrolled student at Middle Georgia State University.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to campus culture and community.
  • Possess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Able to work independently when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently residing in or having previously lived in the residence halls at Middle Georgia State University.
  • Prior experience in customer service is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Present oneself in a professional and positive manner.
