Job Summary

The Front Desk Student Office Assistant plays a vital role in the Housing and Residence Life department, acting as a representative for the university and providing support to residents, students, families, and visitors. This position is designed to cultivate essential skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, confidentiality, communication, customer service, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to various stakeholders, including prospective students, current residents, parents, and campus partners.
    • Manage high-volume calls using a multi-line phone system.
    • Welcome and assist walk-in visitors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Housing Assistant and other housing leadership.
    • Organize and file documentation.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Utilize software applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, StarRez) effectively.
  • Create and update housing-related documents and templates.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in recruitment events on campus.
  • Make outbound calls to current and prospective residents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Residence Life leadership team.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a currently enrolled student at Middle Georgia State University.
  • Enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours is required.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to campus culture.
  • Possess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Able to work independently when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or previous resident of the university's housing facilities.
  • Experience in customer service roles is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Maintain a professional and positive demeanor.
