Position Overview

The Student Housing Assistant plays a crucial role in the Housing and Residence Life department, serving as a key point of contact for residents, students, families, and visitors. This role is designed to cultivate essential skills in areas such as problem-solving, effective communication, customer service, and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to various stakeholders, including prospective students, current residents, and campus partners.
    • Manage a high volume of incoming calls using a multi-line phone system.
    • Welcome and assist walk-in visitors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Housing team, including filing and processing documentation.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Utilize various software applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word) for daily tasks.
  • Create and update housing-related documents and templates.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in recruitment events.
  • Make outreach calls to current and prospective residents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Housing leadership team.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be an enrolled student at Middle Georgia State University.
  • Enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours is required.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to campus culture.
  • Possess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or previous resident of the university's housing facilities.
  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Present oneself in a professional and positive manner.
