Position Overview:

The Dublin campus of Middle Georgia State University is looking for candidates to fill the role of Part-Time Library Federal Work Study Student Assistant. This position entails providing essential support within the library during both daytime and evening hours. Typically, the employee will not work during intersession periods, Spring Breaks, or holidays, although occasional opportunities may arise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage circulation desk operations, including the check-in and check-out of library materials using an automated system.
  • Assist library patrons with general inquiries.
  • Organize and shelve library materials in accordance with Library of Congress standards.
  • Conduct quality control by shelf reading library stacks.
  • Reorganize library materials as necessary.
  • Respond to circulation desk phone inquiries.
  • Provide assistance to library staff as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in navigating MGA email, SWORDS, Brightspace/D2L, and Microsoft Office.
  • Exhibit attention to detail in all job functions.
  • Maintain a dependable and courteous demeanor.
Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled at Middle Georgia State University with a minimum of 6 credit hours (12 preferred).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Students are required to uphold Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with computers and various software applications is essential.
  • Previous experience in an office setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
