Overview:

The Communications Manager oversees a dedicated team responsible for delivering comprehensive correspondence and communication solutions in alignment with client objectives. While collaboration is a key aspect of the team's operations, the Communications Manager is accountable for the overall quality of work and ensuring that the communication needs of the government client are met with professionalism and effectiveness. This role includes responsibilities such as timecard review and performance evaluations.

Given the sensitive nature of the documents and executive functions involved, the position demands a highly experienced leader whom the government can rely on. The role requires a combination of administrative, analytical, editorial, graphic design, and related skills, complemented by advanced communication expertise and experience. The team is tasked with adapting to changing requirements and enhancing the efficiency, collaboration, and effectiveness of communication operations.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, along with a good understanding of Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in SharePoint and graphic design is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce effective, targeted, and polished writing and editing that adheres to client standards for format, grammar, clarity, and syntax. Ensure that all official communications and support activities uphold the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and information security.
  • Review, write, edit, and manage correspondence and significant documents, including formal memorandums, reports, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and official updates to convey guidance to the commercial aviation sector. Occasionally review Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports/audits as assigned.
  • Conduct regular reviews of key program documents in collaboration with subject matter experts and approving authorities to ensure they are current and utilize appropriate language, acronyms, and program processes.
  • Maintain a responsive correspondence operation by monitoring multiple email inboxes, assigning incoming tasks, and ensuring timely responses. Perform technical reviews prior to submission.
  • Manage and maintain essential program resources, including organization charts, a comprehensive acronym list, glossary, style guides, templates, and an online Document Repository containing over 1,600 key program documents. Facilitate quarterly Document Repository meetings with points of contact.
  • Oversee website maintenance and updates conducted by the Communications Analyst, who serves as a site administrator and manages online resources.
  • Maintain an online library of briefs, templates, reference documents, and archives, managing content access for authorized personnel and sharing resources with internal customers.
  • Collaborate with the team to renovate websites as necessary, particularly in response to recent organizational changes.
  • Manage the division's quarterly awards process, including scheduling, collecting nominations, tallying votes, and creating/updating awards documentation.
  • Track the status of tasks using an online Communications Tracker.
  • Provide regular status updates to the government lead and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
