Currently, we are seeking a dedicated and career-focused Corporate Communications Specialist to enhance our operations.

The Communications Specialist will play a crucial role in researching, crafting, and developing a wide array of written, spoken, and digital communications for the Department of Energy (DOE). You will support DOE leadership in formulating and executing communication strategies aimed at informing, engaging, and influencing both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will facilitate collaboration among agency personnel globally to effectively convey the scope and significance of DOE's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive internal and external communications for the DOE.
  • Proactively identify and execute marketing strategies.
  • Engage with potential users and user groups to enhance communication processes.
  • Provide informed recommendations for message development, communication method selection, and timing.
  • Research, write, edit, and publish various communication products (e.g., print, web, electronic, briefings).
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, briefing developers, photographers, illustrators, and other necessary personnel to create publications and communications.
  • Prepare materials for internal dissemination.
  • Oversee and manage production schedules.
  • Innovate new communication methods to effectively reach target audiences.
  • Support senior leaders by drafting speeches, talking points, video scripts, briefings, communication plans/strategies, and articles for publication.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field (or 15+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism.
  • Basic understanding of the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with graphic design tools and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience with graphic design tools and techniques.
  • Master's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
  • Occasional mobility within the office for meetings and in-person interactions.
  • Effective communication with colleagues, management, and clients, including delivering presentations.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
