Electrical Controls Engineer

As a key member of our engineering team, the Electrical Controls Engineer collaborates with a diverse group of professionals, including Electrical, Mechanical, and Sales experts, to develop and manufacture customized ASCO Power Automated Transfer Switch solutions tailored to various client needs. Each project presents unique challenges, and this role encompasses the full project lifecycle, from initial design to final implementation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Generate essential documentation for production by analyzing custom specifications, industry benchmarks, and assessing manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • Provide technical support by addressing inquiries and requests for engineering information.
  • Resolve discrepancies between design and manufacturing requirements by determining whether to adjust designs or return components to suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Testing teams to troubleshoot designs and finalize projects through open communication with Test Technicians.
  • Uphold the integrity of products and the company by adhering to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Work with various departments such as engineering, project management, and procurement, with increasing independence as experience grows.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: (Electrical)
  • Assess assigned projects by designing and conducting research based on custom specifications, applying in-depth knowledge of electrical systems and materials.
  • Facilitate project release to manufacturing by compiling bills of materials, creating electrical schematics, and developing application-specific programs and operational descriptions.
  • Manage revisions of drawings and programs by issuing Engineering Change Notices.
  • May represent engineering functions during Factory Witness Tests as required.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Be prepared for potential travel up to 25% as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in OEM design, PLC programming, and providing technical support.
  • Proficient in Electrical systems, specifically with Switchgear or Automated Transfer Switch (ATS) technologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical circuit design principles, Power Systems, Digital Logic, and basic Protective Relaying applications.
  • Experience with PLC configuration, which will be evaluated during the interview process.
  • Familiarity with SCADA or Wonderware systems is advantageous.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, word processing, spreadsheets, file management software, and relevant engineering software.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, including NEC, NFPA110, UL508, UL891, UL1008, and UL1558.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and committed to completing tasks despite challenges.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
