Job Title: Field Service Engineer - X-Ray Systems

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team at VJ Technologies. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance services for our x-ray inspection systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain x-ray systems and components on customer sites.
  • Provide on-site and remote customer support as required.
  • Train customers in the operation and maintenance of x-ray systems and components.
  • Identify and analyze source of problem; recommend proper corrective action and repair or replace parts as needed.
  • Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team to help resolve customer problems and provide world-class customer service.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks on systems and components in the field.
  • Perform tasks in accordance and compliance with US and European standards, defined quality standards, all related Company design and safety standards.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation and trip reports.
  • Work with Production, Design & Installation teams to revise drawings and ensure accuracy of final built package.
  • Test, troubleshoot and debug electrical, components and systems in-house and at customer locations.
  • Install, wire, and configure electrical, imaging and x-ray components into new and existing systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with all applicable local, state, federal Electrical standards.
  • Wiring of custom systems to include electrical panel building, machine wiring, pulling wire, terminating, bending conduit, wiring motors and system startup and testing.
  • Assist with the preparation and debugging of PLC or PC based control programs.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned including clean-up, department organization, material movement, and forklift operation.
  • Provide mechanical system integration and assembly support.
  • This is a facility-based position that requires extensive travel (up to 60%).
  • Majority of travel will be Domestic but International travel may be required.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of comparable field service experience with direct customer interface.
  • Minimum 2 years of directly related hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in cutting, stripping, tinning, and crimping cable and harness.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics and engineering documentation.
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and able to pass personal background and security checks.
  • Proficiency in the English language with established written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a strong understanding of PC's and be proficient in MS operating systems, networking and MS office applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2 plus years of experience in integration and troubleshooting of industrial, automated machinery systems.
  • Prior experience working with BOMS and or computerized MRP or ERP systems.
  • Prior exposure or experience with x-ray technology and/or x-ray inspection systems would be a plus but not required.
  • Established understanding and experience working with high voltage power levels (>1KW).
  • Familiarity with motor drives (Copley), PLC (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and PC based control system.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatic Actuator Control and Relay Logic.
  • Knowledge of Machine Guarding Systems and Power Distribution.
  • Knowledge of CE, UL, or other applicable regulatory guidelines or standards.
  • Experience in tuning and Integration of DC Drives, VFD's, Servo Drives, PLC's and PC based control systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for Electrical.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, bend and stand.
  • Domestic and International travel via air, rail and car.
  • Will be required to lift, move, erect, install and assemble electro-mechanical parts and components of varying weight, height, length and width dimensions.
  • Expected to effectively communicate in person, on phone, and via email and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis.
  • Will need to repeatedly use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate hand tools, power tools and standard office equipment.
  • Will need manual dexterity to be able to complete required system and component cabling and wiring.
  • Day-to-day responsibilities will require lifting, moving, staging and placing of materials up to 50 pounds alone and heavier with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
