Senior Controls Engineer - Electrical

As a pivotal member of our engineering team, the Senior Controls Engineer will collaborate with professionals from various disciplines including Electrical, Mechanical, and Sales to innovate and develop customized ASCO Power Automated Transfer Switch solutions for diverse clientele. This role encompasses the full project lifecycle, from conceptual design through to final implementation and testing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Generate comprehensive documentation for manufacturing by analyzing custom specifications and industry standards while assessing production and assembly techniques.
  • Provide technical support by addressing inquiries and delivering engineering insights.
  • Resolve discrepancies between design and production requirements by making informed decisions on design modifications or vendor communications.
  • Collaborate with Testing teams to troubleshoot designs and ensure project completion through open communication.
  • Uphold product and company integrity by adhering to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with various departments such as engineering, project management, and procurement, with increasing independence as experience grows.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: (Electrical)
  • Assess assigned projects by conducting research based on custom specifications and applying advanced knowledge of electrical systems and materials.
  • Facilitate project release to manufacturing by compiling bills of materials, creating electrical schematics, and developing application-specific programs.
  • Manage revisions of drawings and programs through Engineering Change Notices.
  • Represent engineering functions during Factory Witness Tests as required.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% may be necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in OEM design, PLC programming, and technical support.
  • Experience with Electrical systems related to Switchgear or Automated Transfer Switch (ATS) is essential.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuit design principles, Power Systems, Digital Logic, and Protective Relaying applications.
  • Proficiency in PLC configuration is required.
  • Familiarity with SCADA or Wonderware systems is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and relevant software tools.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, including NEC, NFPA110, UL508, UL891, UL1008, and UL1558.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, self-motivation, and dedication to task completion.
  • KEY ATTRIBUTES: Positive attitude, adaptability, composure under pressure, and willingness to learn.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.
