About Project Eden

Project Eden offers a comprehensive range of prevention, intervention, and treatment services for substance abuse, catering to children, adolescents, adults, families, and communities across various regions. Our Prevention Program specifically targets at-risk youth, delivering educational and brief intervention services directly on school campuses.

Impacting Lives

The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Prevention Counselor plays a vital role by conducting both individual and group sessions for participants in the program. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate client records, coordinating with external partners such as educational staff and family members, and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures set forth by the Program Manager. This dynamic role provides invaluable experience in youth development and substance use prevention methodologies.

Key Qualifications for Success

  • Experience in SUD prevention and education.
  • Prior work with youth in educational settings.
  • Familiarity with environmental prevention strategies.
  • Associate Degree in Substance Use Disorder, Counseling, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of counseling experience in SUD and co-occurring disorders, utilizing evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Community Organizing.
  • COVID and Flu vaccinations are mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
  • Experience in documentation and note-taking.
  • Background in leading group and individual educational sessions.
  • Case management experience with clients.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction strategies and cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience in both school and community environments.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record and insurance.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Background check and drug testing are required upon hiring.
  • Current flu vaccination is necessary.
  • Compliance with California Department of Public Health mandates regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • TB Test is required.

Compensation and Benefits
