Position Overview

The Youth Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering direct support services to youth during staff shortages or absences. This temporary role offers flexible hours based on organizational needs and individual availability.

This position is ideal for those seeking to gain diverse experience, work part-time while increasing their hours, or accumulate hours toward licensure. It is also suitable for individuals with relevant experience looking to broaden their skill set.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to a designated group of youth through in-person interactions, video calls, and phone communications.
  • Assist in establishing and achieving personal goals in collaboration with each youth.
  • Monitor and evaluate ongoing information to ensure the safety and well-being of youth.
  • Conduct assessments and develop plans to maintain safety and manage crises as necessary.
  • Deliver coaching, mentoring, and interventions to enhance youth self-sufficiency and goal achievement.
  • Collaborate with community partners, including social workers, legal professionals, and educational institutions.

Documentation and Administrative Duties

  • Complete necessary documentation, including care plans and progress notes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and orientation as required.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of four years of experience in child welfare or with transition-age youth facing complex challenges. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Applicants must be comfortable working in community settings and pass a background check. A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required.
