(SIHC) designated service area. The primary focus of therapeutic interventions is to engage clients in recovery from alcohol and drug dependencies. This role involves collaboration with other professionals and participation in culturally relevant educational and preventive initiatives, promoting a sober lifestyle among clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide culturally sensitive outpatient treatment for substance use disorders, including education and recovery services. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of various therapeutic approaches for individuals and groups, particularly in substance abuse recovery, domestic violence dynamics, and interventions like GONA, Wellbriety, and co-occurring disorder treatments as outlined by SAMHSA.

2. Maintain a trauma-informed approach, ensuring services are respectful of clients' experiences. Emphasize client safety, acceptance, and resilience, fostering a culturally competent environment.

3. Deliver services and referrals aimed at achieving overall wellness, which includes education on substance use, assessments, treatment planning, relapse prevention, and family support. Facilitate referrals for services beyond the scope of KWC, SIHC, and its providers when necessary.

4. Collaborate with the SIHC multidisciplinary Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) team to coordinate care.

5. Engage in outreach efforts to educate the Native American community about substance abuse prevention and treatment options available for them and their families.

6. Support clients in navigating interactions with legal systems, including court proceedings, probation, and other relevant organizations.

7. Effectively manage a caseload by prioritizing tasks based on client needs and program requirements.

8. Represent the Southern Indian Health Council and Kumeyaay Wellness Center professionally in various community and clinical settings.

9. Uphold strict confidentiality and adhere to all relevant laws and ethical standards regarding documentation.

10. Facilitate access to alternative treatment methods, including traditional practices and spiritual beliefs.

11. Provide statistical reports detailing outcomes related to substance use issues, outreach efforts, and recovery initiatives to the Program Director and Board of Directors as required.

12. Track and report on collaboration and partnership developments to the Program Director and Board of Directors as necessary.

13. Flexibility in scheduling may be required based on organizational needs.

14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: A minimum of two years in the chemical dependency counseling field, with at least one year in outpatient settings. Preferred qualifications include education in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). A High School diploma or GED is required, with an AA degree strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent software. Experience working with diverse communities, particularly Native American populations, is highly valued.

Applicants must demonstrate adaptability to changing circumstances and maintain professionalism under pressure, ensuring confidentiality at all times. A valid California driver's license is required, along with insurability under SIHC's vehicle insurance policy.

Licenses and Certifications: Candidates must hold valid certifications from recognized organizations such as The California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE), The California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP), or The California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP).

Character Traits: Applicants should exhibit honesty, responsibility, and sound judgment. The ability to follow instructions, pay attention to detail, and interact effectively with clients and colleagues is crucial.

Skills: Strong team-building, interpersonal, and organizational skills are necessary. Candidates should be able to communicate ideas clearly and effectively, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements: The role requires a typical office environment with the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and utilize a computer. Reliable transportation is necessary for travel as required.

Compliance: All employees are expected to understand and adhere to SIHC policies and procedures, including compliance training and reporting any violations.

Additional Information: Applicants should possess a thorough understanding of laws and regulations governing substance abuse treatment and crisis intervention techniques, particularly in relation to Native American cultural practices. A pre-employment health assessment and drug screening are mandatory, along with the completion of an online application questionnaire submitted to Human Resources.
