We are excited to welcome a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Product Quality Engineer to our Operations Quality Assurance team in Tucson, Arizona. In this role, you will ensure our aerospace products meet top quality standards while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. You'll collaborate with various teams to identify and resolve quality issues, drive improvements, and maintain compliance with industry regulations. As an Operations Quality Engineer at RTX, you will play a key role in upholding our reputation for excellent product performance and reliability.

What you will do:

  • As a metrology quality engineer, you will interface with cross functional teams through face to face and teleconferencing interactions in a fast-paced environment with plenty of challenging opportunities
  • Engage with Metrology, Manufacturing Engineers, Product Test Engineers, Design Engineers, Production Associates, Management and customers to assure product and process compliance
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) input regarding the application of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Perform process analysis to identify best practices and apply lessons learned to increase effectiveness of the QMS
  • Working within the Metrology team to assure closure of non-conformances, performing root cause and corrective actions, and supporting implementation
  • Assist in escalation, investigation, and closure of out of tolerance reports
  • Pro-active application of quality tools to drive zero-defect performance
  • Provide oversight of vendors, including the vendor survey process
  • Coordination with Supply Chain Management and Supplier Quality regarding the tracking of supplier issues/certifications
  • Facilitation of corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods
  • Provide analysis and validation of metrology metrics
  • Creation of charts for tracking and reporting quality data product/process predictability and capability
  • Perform management/control of nonconforming material
  • Monitor non-conformance data and maintain feedback to establish/support closed loop actions
  • Develop/Present quality reports/presentations to program/facility/business management.
  • Ensure compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, through area surveillance
What YOU Will Learn:

Qualifications you must have:
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of (3) three years of engineering experience required including either quality engineering or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with the interpretation of technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience with utilizing root cause and corrective action tools
  • Experience using quality tools (e.g. Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping)
Qualifications we Prefer:
  • Experience in creating and performing holistic containment plans following a noncompliance event (Escape)
  • Experience interfacing with customers or customer representatives to support business needs
  • Certifications in ASQ
  • Experience supporting AS9100 or equivalent audits
  • Working knowledge with Advanced Product Quality Planning tools (e.g. PFMEA, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis)
  • Working knowledge of descriptive statistics and statistical control methodologies including statistical software
  • Ability to comprehend and translate external and internal requirements into effective work instructions
  • Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
  • Level 4 Mission Assurance Certification (internal candidates only)


Working Environments:
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
