Position Summary: Under the direction of the Housing and Economic Mobility Director, and in collaboration with AIDS Project Rhode Island (APRI), the Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS (HOPWA) Housing Specialist is responsible for managing the process for connecting people living with HIV (PLWH) to and ensuring they can attain and maintain safe, stable, and affordable housing.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in human/social service field or relevant field with one-year field experience preferred. In lieu of college degree, a high school diploma with 4 years of case management or field experience required
  • Either have a Community Health Worker certification with an HIV specialty or have the ability to obtain certification within first 12 months of employment
  • Experience providing housing support services within Rhode Island, preferred
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated sensitivity to LGBTQ+ communities, racial and ethnic minorities, and those impacted by HIV
  • Possession of valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance required
  • Must be agreeable to a hybrid work environment and flexible scheduling to meet recipient needs
  • FSRI values staff with bilingual language capacity and familiarity with the local community they will be serving. FSRI includes pay incentives for bilingual staff
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft platforms and an Electronic Medical Record
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
  • Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
Physical Requirements: Employees in this position must have the ability to:
  • Use walkways, stairs, and elevators
  • Sit continuously for up to two hours
  • Stand continuously for up to two hours
  • Walk as needed
  • Communicate effectively
  • Drive within the community
  • Stoop or bend as needed
  • Push, pull, lift, and carry up to 20 lbs.
