The Community Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role within the Providence Housing Authority, specifically focusing on the Jobs Plus initiative aimed at enhancing the lives of residents.
This program is designed to assist individuals in overcoming obstacles to secure stable employment, increase their income, and foster savings.
As a vital member of the outreach team, the specialist will engage with residents at various developments, effectively communicating the benefits of the Jobs Plus program and motivating participation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach activities including door-to-door visits, phone outreach, and community informational sessions to promote the Jobs Plus orientation.
- Collaborate with the outreach team to assess and report on the effectiveness of engagement strategies.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of interactions with residents in the Jobs Plus database.
- Act as a representative of the Jobs Plus initiative, articulating the program's offerings and benefits.
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding resident interactions and documentation.
- Foster open lines of communication with supervisors, colleagues, and community members.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating orientation sessions, community workshops, and celebratory events.
- Provide residents with referrals to available work resources associated with the Jobs Plus program.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Background in community organizing, outreach, or related fields is beneficial.
Skills and Attributes:
- Possess a strong work ethic and the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
- Comfortable engaging with new people and delivering presentations to groups.
- Team-oriented mindset with a focus on shared successes and challenges.
Working Conditions:
- Willingness to navigate various properties, including climbing stairs and commuting in different weather conditions.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with standard office equipment and basic computer skills is necessary.
