Position Overview

The City of Providence is seeking individuals committed to making a meaningful difference in the community.


Role Summary: This position involves providing essential housing resources, advocacy, and referrals to families in need. The primary focus is to assist families residing in shelters to transition to stable and secure housing. Responsibilities include outreach efforts to enhance access for underserved populations, processing requests for financial assistance to avert homelessness, and offering guidance to help clients overcome challenges in maintaining safe housing. The role will be based in both the Providence office and designated community locations.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant human/social services field or an Associate's degree with applicable field experience.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in case management or related fields.
  • Experience in providing housing support services in Rhode Island is essential, with a preference for familiarity with Providence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Electronic Medical Records is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Certification as a Community Health Worker is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment, with support from the organization.
  • Certification in BHHP Housing First is also required or must be obtained within the first year of employment, with organizational assistance.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance are mandatory.
  • Flexibility for a hybrid work environment and adaptable scheduling to meet client needs is necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required.
  • Bilingual skills will be compensated with an additional 6% above the base salary.

Physical Demands:

  • This role entails a combination of remote, office-based, and community engagement work.
  • Employees must be able to travel to various locations, which may involve navigating walkways, stairs, and elevators.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs is required.
