Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Providence Housing Authority. As an Electrical Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for performing skilled electrical construction, maintenance, and repair work on our housing stock and properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work, including the installation of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, appliances, and equipment.
  • Provide lead employee services in the accomplishment of electrical tasks and the instruction of less skilled co-workers.
  • Perform internal and external connections of complicated electrical equipment, such as motor controllers, switchboxes, transformers, and generators on multiphase circuits.
  • Ensure the proper installation and safe operation of wiring circuits and lines.
  • Interpret building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals.
  • Plan the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, load, capacity, or wiring systems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational experience, required.
  • Industrial arts/vocational training participation in crafts or trade apprenticeship training, required.
  • 5 years' experience in basic and advanced electrical work at Journeyman level, required.
  • Rhode Island Journeyman Electrician License, required.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local electrical codes.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Working knowledge of safety procedures used while working with electricity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master Electrician License, preferred.
  • Experience in working in public housing settings, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical maintenance and repair manuals.
