The Community Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role within the Jobs Plus initiative at Providence Housing Authority. This program aims to empower residents by addressing employment barriers, enhancing income potential, and promoting financial stability.
As a key member of the outreach team, the Specialist will engage with residents of the designated housing developments, articulating the benefits of the Jobs Plus program and motivating participation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach activities, including door-to-door engagement, phone outreach, and community information sessions to recruit residents for program orientations.
- Collaborate with the outreach team to assess and report on the effectiveness of engagement strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of resident interactions within the program database.
- Act as a representative of the Jobs Plus initiative, effectively communicating the available services to residents.
- Uphold confidentiality in all resident communications and documentation.
- Foster open lines of communication with supervisors, colleagues, and community members.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating orientation sessions, community workshops, and celebratory events.
- Provide residents with referrals to employment resources and support services offered through the program.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
Experience: Background in community organizing, outreach, or related fields is advantageous.
Skills and Attributes:
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and ability to connect with diverse populations.
- Comfortable engaging with new individuals and presenting to groups.
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Working Conditions:
Ability to navigate various environments, including office settings and community spaces, while being adaptable to changing weather conditions.
Schedule: Flexibility to work approximately fifteen hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.
