Position Overview

The Community Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role within the Jobs Plus initiative at Providence Housing Authority. This program aims to empower residents by addressing employment barriers, enhancing income potential, and promoting financial stability.

As a key member of the outreach team, the Specialist will engage with residents of the designated housing developments, articulating the benefits of the Jobs Plus program and motivating participation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach activities, including door-to-door engagement, phone outreach, and community information sessions to recruit residents for program orientations.
  • Collaborate with the outreach team to assess and report on the effectiveness of engagement strategies.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of resident interactions within the program database.
  • Act as a representative of the Jobs Plus initiative, effectively communicating the available services to residents.
  • Uphold confidentiality in all resident communications and documentation.
  • Foster open lines of communication with supervisors, colleagues, and community members.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating orientation sessions, community workshops, and celebratory events.
  • Provide residents with referrals to employment resources and support services offered through the program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Experience: Background in community organizing, outreach, or related fields is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Comfortable engaging with new individuals and presenting to groups.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Working Conditions:

Schedule: Flexibility to work approximately fifteen hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.
