Job Description

The Operations Coordinator, Ophthalmic Imaging reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Operations Coordinator, Ophthalmic Imaging for the department of ophthalmology is primarily responsible for supervising the overall operations for imaging services within the department, developing measures to ensure safety, security, quality and accuracy of results, designing and performing test procedures, analyzing requests for tests and equipment, and tending to administrative matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate efforts of the office’s imaging and procedural non-exempt staff.
  • Participate in performance coaching/mentoring and provides regular feedback to the team.
  • Identifies and communicates key issues and trends to manager.
  • Participates in hiring and termination discussions.
  • Assists with department orientation and training of new staff.
  • Supervise staff performing specialized imaging and procedures to assist physicians with clinical diagnostic and treatment efforts.
  • Coordinates and manages imaging and procedural staffs schedule, daily assignments, and PTO requests, ensuring adequate coverage for performance of departmental commitments. Tracks staffs attendance per NMHC Policy.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and techniques in the field of ophthalmic imaging and recommend modifications to existing systems as necessary to improve quality and efficiency; and to adapt to specific requirements for clinical activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction.
  • Ensure maintenance and proper functioning of assigned photographic and related equipment; maintain inventory and reorder as required.
  • Works closely with other clinic leadership to improve efficiency & patient experience.
  • Participate in formal/informal operations management meetings/discussions.
  • Ensure accuracy of all data collection and data entry by site staff through training and compliance monitoring and facilitate and oversee flow of information.
  • Adheres to Patients First management standards on leadership, communication, visibility.
  • Encourage teamwork through positive leadership and communication.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5 years of experience in healthcare
  • Previous experience as an ophthalmic photographer


Preferred:

  • Previous practice/operations supervisory experience
  • Certification as a Certified Retinal Angiographer
