Working in partnership with utilities, governments, Indigenous Nations, and other industry partners we reduce energy poverty, accelerate decarbonization, and improve housing in traditionally underserved communities across Canada and the United States. Kambo delivers three in-house programs: Empower Me, Community Power, and the Home Upgrades Program.


Empower Me delivers multilingual education, support, and coaching services to ensure underrepresented communities have access to energy, climate, and home retrofit programs.


Community Power supports Indigenous and Tribal Nations to build, renovate, and improve community housing.


Home Upgrades Program provides fully subsidized energy retrofits to improve affordability for households living in energy poverty.


About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will work to raise awareness about Empower Me, delivering and managing the delivery of its energy efficiency programs in Washington. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Program Manager to support the management of the region’s Mentor team and ensure the program is delivered consistently throughout the region. To be successful in this role, you are a self-starter, you have excellent communication skills, are extremely organized, and community oriented. You are a natural leader with a positive “can-do” attitude, have a collaborative team approach, and embrace a diverse range of responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage and maintain internal software including technical support for Energy Mentors.
  • Coordinate event and workshop logistics with the region’s Mentor team to ensure energy efficiency education is delivered to the public.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining community outreach and relationship management, including researching potential partners and event opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager to support sending touchpoint emails to Champions, managing payroll, maintaining, and updating spreadsheets and reports including event logs, home visits, pre/post reports.
  • Responsible for community outreach and relationship building in including developing an outreach plan and researching potential partners and event opportunities.
  • Report results of community outreach, workshops, and presentations
  • Organize and attend external meetings with community partners, stakeholders, and/or funders and follow up with them via emails and phone calls.
  • Perform operational duties including inventory management for energy saving kits, supply management (project materials/flyers), packing, and delivery when necessary.
  • Support the Program Manager with mentor hiring, interviews, and training.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and provide backup support for the Mentor team as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager to provide Champion survey follow up and manage payments.
  • May be asked to participate in political outreach, such as attending meetings with MLAs, and reaching out to political and community figures for letters of support.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned by the Program Manager.


Required Skills & Experience:


  • A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in a similar role working with community, public and/or private stakeholders.
  • Must be a clear and compelling oral and written communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of creating and establishing relationships with community organizations.
  • Client-focused mentality with the ability to adapt to client needs.
  • Excellent follow up, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of diverse and multi-barriered communities and organizations.


Desired Skills & Experience:


  • Understanding of utilities, energy, and demand side management industry an asset.
