Role Summary:

The Literacy Program Coordinator plays a vital role within our expanding program team, dedicated to combating the early literacy crisis. This position is responsible for leading, developing, and mobilizing a small team of AmeriCorps members and volunteers to provide high-quality, evidence-based, individualized instruction to students. Reporting to the Program Director, the Coordinator oversees all facets of program quality, execution, and implementation across multiple educational sites. The role involves managing daily operations of reading centers, nurturing internal and external partnerships, guiding a team of AmeriCorps members, coaching volunteers, and utilizing data to inform decisions and track progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and supervise a team of up to 7 AmeriCorps Program Coordinators to ensure effective program delivery across various schools.
  • Guarantee the integrity and fidelity of the Reading Partners program in collaboration with school partners.
  • Achieve a 100% retention rate of AmeriCorps members throughout their service term.
  • Collaborate with the program team to design and implement monthly training sessions for AmeriCorps members and volunteers.
  • Attain a minimum of 90% satisfaction rating from tutors, educators, and school administrators.

Manage all aspects of program execution, including serving as a local literacy expert, conducting data analysis, fostering relationships with schools, and overseeing AmeriCorps recruitment and onboarding processes.

  • Ensure 100% enrollment of students by the designated timeline.
  • Maintain above 90% attendance for all enrolled students.
  • Lead a team to support at least 80% of students in achieving their literacy growth objectives.
  • Provide operational support in the region as necessary, including managing reading centers.

Oversee the AmeriCorps applicant interview process during recruitment seasons.

  • Assist in sourcing and tracking applicants as the regional point of contact.
  • Facilitate onboarding activities for AmeriCorps members as required.

Additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational environment, with teaching experience preferred.
  • Proven management experience with volunteers, interns, or emerging professionals.
  • Familiarity with literacy assessments, instructional strategies, and student data analysis.
  • Reliable transportation for travel within the designated region.
  • Flexibility to accommodate a varied work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and database management.
  • Eligibility to work legally in the country.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong commitment to our mission and values.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the initial phases of project or program launches.
  • Knowledge of and connections within the local elementary education community.
  • Background as an AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alumni.
  • Master's degree in education or a related field.
