Our diverse volunteer network provides individualized tutoring to students twice a week, significantly enhancing their reading skills and helping them become confident, successful readers. Position Summary:
The Literacy Program Coordinator plays a vital role within our expanding program team, focused on eliminating early literacy challenges. This position is responsible for leading, developing, and mobilizing a dedicated team of AmeriCorps members and volunteers to provide high-quality, evidence-based reading instruction to students. Reporting to the Program Director, the Coordinator oversees program quality, implementation, and delivery across multiple school sites. This role includes managing daily operations of reading centers, nurturing relationships with stakeholders, and driving strategies to enhance literacy outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach and mentor a team of up to 7 AmeriCorps Program Coordinators to ensure effective program execution across various schools.
- Guarantee the faithful implementation of the Reading Partners program in collaboration with school partners.
- Achieve full retention of AmeriCorps members throughout their service term.
- Collaborate with the program team to design and conduct monthly training sessions for AmeriCorps members and volunteers.
- Maintain a program satisfaction rating of at least 90% from tutors, teachers, and school administrators.
- Oversee all facets of program implementation, serving as a local expert in literacy initiatives, conducting data analysis, and fostering school partnerships.
- Ensure 100% enrollment of students by the designated deadline.
- Achieve and sustain above 90% attendance for all enrolled students.
- Lead the team to support at least 80% of students in meeting their literacy growth objectives.
- Assist with program operations in the regional area as necessary.
- Manage the AmeriCorps applicant interview process during recruitment seasons.
- Support the onboarding process for new AmeriCorps members as required.
- Perform additional duties as needed.

- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, both in-person and remotely.
- Expertise in literacy strategies and student performance assessment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and adapt to changing circumstances.
