We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Principle Cyber Security Specialist with experience providing support and making recommendations on Cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework (RMF) assessments to assist Combatant Craft Division (CCD) and combatant craft efforts. The position will support operations in Virginia Beach, VA.

Job Summary:

The Cyber Security Specialist shall work with customers to verify security controls and assist in implementing strategies to ensure the cybersecurity posture of the systems is effective and able to scale.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Providing technical planning and systems engineering to ensure Information Assurance compliance and secure cyber posture with respect to availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation.
  • Developing, reviewing, and maintaining Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation packages.
  • Performing system categorization; selecting, tailoring, implementing, and testing security controls.
  • Developing RMF accreditation artifact documentation to include, the Security Plan in Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) Strategy, Security Authorization Package, engineering documentation, network drawings, and related documentation as required by DoD accreditation standards.
  • Provides guidance on security strategies to manage identified risks and ensure adoption and adherence to standards.
  • Obtains and acts on vulnerability information and conducts security risk assessments, business impact analysis and accreditation on complex information systems. Investigates major breaches of security and recommends appropriate control improvements.
  • Contributes to development of information security policy, standards, and guidelines.
  • Interprets information assurance and security policies and applies these to manage risks.
  • Provides advice and guidance to ensure adoption of and adherence to information assurance architectures, strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines. Uses testing to support information assurance.
  • Contributes to the development of policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Coordinates and manages planning of the system and/or acceptance tests, including software security testing, within a development or integration project or program.
  • Takes responsibility for integrity of testing and acceptance activities and coordinates the execution of these activities.
  • Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution.
  • Defines and communicates the test strategy for the project.
  • Manages all test processes, including test plans, resources, costs, timescales, test deliverables and traceability. Manages client relationships with respect to testing matters.
  • Identifies process improvements and contributes to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Systems, or Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years of experience developing and submitting RMF packages and providing cybersecurity engineering support; or ten (10) years of experience in leu of degree.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: CAP /CASP+ CE / CISM / CISSP (or Associate) / GSLC / CCISO / Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Current and active Secret Security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • May be asked to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment.
