Overview

The Princeton Center for the Decentralization of Power Through Blockchain Technology (DeCenter) has a mandate to examine blockchain technologies that provide "trust without centralization." The center, which sits within the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University, aims to drive interdisciplinary research and education across applications and foundational blockchain technologies, and promotes the development and understanding of the policy, governance, and societal implications of this fast-growing field.


Currently, the center regularly holds conferences, large scale events, speaker series, seminars and workshops. This mandate will expand to include extramural research collaborations, student engagement and digital marketing. The center seeks a robust administrative and event coordinator who will responsible for ensuring that events and programs are executed to the highest standards and that the day-to-day operations of the center run smoothly.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to use, explore, and suggest new technologies in communication and events. This role requires expert program management skills, attention to detail, proactiveness, and timeliness, as well as budgeting and quantitative skills.


This is a two-year term position.



Responsibilities

Event Planning, Coordination and Administration:
-With the director, oversee the the planning, coordination, organization and execution of all center's events including conferences, large-scale events, speaker series, symposia, information sessions, pitches and competitions.
-Manage all aspects of event logistics including venue selection, hotel accommodations, catering and dining arrangements, vendor selection, event décor and design, event registration and event budget management
-Assist with arrangements for event-related travel
-Coordinate visits from invited speakers including preparing itineraries, hosting and guiding guests throughout the duration of their visit
-Develop and monitor event metrics
-Requires on-site event support, including some evening hours

Communications:
-Oversee and coordinate center events including promotional flyers, website content, logistics and speaker itineraries
-Serve as the point person on DeCenter team for communications projects: web content management, promotional and marketing material
-Develop and monitor external facing engagement metrics
-Liaison with the School of Engineering communications team on collaborative projects

Administration:
-Track expenditures for events and other programming
-Support center meetings with room reservations, scheduling support, and note taking
-Provide monthly expense and project updates
-Provide administrative support to growing areas of the DeCenter (e.g. student and alumni engagement, corporate engagement)
-Other administrative duties as assigned



Qualifications

Required qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree and at least one year of work experience

-Excellent communication skills, customer-service orientation, and a high degree of professionalism and responsiveness are critical.

-Basic computer and financial management skills are required, including experience with Microsoft applications.

-A self-starter who is well-organized, detail-oriented, disciplined, flexible, and effective under pressure. Someone who is able to prioritize and execute multiple important projects at once. Maturity, critical thinking, and good judgment are all essential.

Preferred qualifications:

-Demonstrated success interacting and functioning in a cross-disciplinary academic environment: interacting with diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, donors, industry, community etc.
-Prior event management and budgeting experience
-Advanced computer skills: Excel, web editing, photoshop
