Responsibilities:

Position Title: Assistant General Manager, Maintenance

Shift: Day/Night Shift

Department: Maintenance

Position Summary: The Assistant General Manager of Maintenance oversees and/or assists in managing various maintenance teams and operations within the Maintenance Department. This role will support the General Manager in establishing objectives, enhancing technologies, and addressing challenges in collaboration with maintenance, manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering managers. The Senior Maintenance Manager will concentrate on formulating maintenance schedules, managing transitions, and allocating labor and capital resources effectively. By providing strong leadership and vision, the individual will inspire, motivate, and mentor staff to excel and develop new competencies, which is crucial for the growth of our team. The candidate must drive Key Performance Indicators across assigned Manufacturing Operations and ensure that all projects are executed to the highest quality standards while adhering to budgetary constraints and strict timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams effectively during periods of change and production scaling.
  • Manage maintenance operations in a manufacturing setting aimed at developing and implementing strategic solutions to enhance efficiency, resource utilization, safety, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate team efforts to optimize cost performance through capital investment initiatives, efficient working capital usage, and waste reduction by fostering a culture of continuous improvement that includes Lean Six Sigma methodologies, GMP, 5S, and Kaizen principles.
  • Build a robust maintenance management team with a balanced focus on strategic, tactical, and operational activities through exceptional servant leadership, while providing a clear vision and motivating staff to achieve excellence.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exhibit the ability to influence others to adopt best practices and methodologies.
  • Collaborate proactively with Production, Engineering, Facilities, EHS, QC, etc., to integrate best practices into the manufacturing and maintenance environment.
  • Effectively drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across operations, ensuring all projects meet the highest quality standards while adhering to timelines and budget guidelines.
  • Communicate the implications of maintenance changes to stakeholders and offer recommendations and solutions without compromising quality or service.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, assessing and communicating their impact on manufacturing activities.
  • Oversee maintenance activities, including inventory management, cost control, and the production of monthly maintenance inventory usage reports.
  • Coordinate site maintenance for all equipment to ensure optimal availability and operational efficiency.
  • Review, challenge, and enhance the capabilities of technicians and maintenance team leaders.
  • Work within established timelines and deadlines.
  • Possess prior experience in a world-class Maintenance organization with exposure to best practices in Preventative and Predictive Maintenance.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure workplace health and safety, wearing PPE may be necessary, which includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit with a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education

  • Basic/Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science (MS).

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience as a Plant, Operations, or Manufacturing Manager.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a servant leadership approach to team management.
  • Hands-on experience with Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience managing large teams of over 500 employees.
  • Ability to think strategically while guiding teams operating at tactical levels.
  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing/operations experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Proficient in warehouse management systems, ERP (SAP or Oracle), and MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with 6S methodology.
  • Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a large-scale, high-speed/high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Experience with automation and automated equipment is strongly preferred, including electrical control systems, pneumatic devices, servo devices, mechanical devices, and various machine components.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma implementation.
  • Excellent relationship management and customer service skills with the ability to engage, negotiate, and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines and goals.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Experience with ISO9000 and/or TS16949 systems.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets exceeding $50M.
  • Ability to positively resolve issues arising from working with individuals from diverse cultures.
  • Alignment with Panasonic's core principles.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) preferred.

  • Six Sigma Certification Green Belt preferred; Black Belt ideal.
