GENERAL OVERVIEW:


The Saginaw Public Schools Elementary School Administrators are tasked with overseeing the operations of their designated educational institutions, coordinating various activities, representing the school in the community, and addressing issues while resolving conflicts that may adversely affect the school environment.

Elementary School Administrators are also accountable for executing the mission and objectives of the District, which includes striving for continuous enhancement of services, addressing the needs of stakeholders within the framework of the District's goals and resources, and providing instructional guidance to empower staff to achieve their maximum potential.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:


Understanding of state and federal regulations related to General Education and the capability to guide the implementation of these laws, rules, and regulations.

Familiarity with organizational policies and procedures.

Proficiency in technology operations and curriculum integration.

Expertise in management and instructional leadership principles and techniques.


Strong interpersonal skills to lead both professional and non-professional staff and to interact discreetly with parents, community groups, and district personnel.

Skilled in supervisory roles such as observing staff, providing constructive feedback, team building, and promoting continuous improvement.

Ability to handle emergency situations concerning the health, safety, and welfare of students.

Capacity to maintain confidentiality when sharing information with parents, staff, and others, as appropriate.

Ability to modify schedules and resources based on the most pressing needs.


Capability to collect information, analyze data, resolve issues, and make decisions in both an instructional leadership role and as part of a team.

Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with all employees and business contacts.


Ability to thrive in a multicultural, urban environment and build rapport with students, staff, parents, and the school community.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Act as the Chief Administrative Officer and oversee school administrative functions (e.g., facility maintenance, budgeting, staffing, evaluations, etc.) to ensure a safe and efficient school operation in line with district guidelines.

Implement policies, procedures, and processes as necessary to provide direction and comply with mandated requirements.


Participate in extracurricular activities to support students and staff in all school functions, fostering ongoing relationships with students and staff.

Lead building meetings to coordinate activities and ensure that outcomes align with school, district, and state objectives.

Facilitate communication among personnel, students, and parents to assess situations, resolve issues, and mediate conflicts.


Coordinate staff development and in-service training programs for all certified personnel to provide professional growth opportunities and educational planning.


Present information (e.g., budget summaries, accounting processes, etc.) to share knowledge, gather feedback, and ensure compliance with established internal controls, as needed.

Represent the school in community forums and other events.

Review requests for materials and supplies (e.g., building materials, furniture, curriculum resources, etc.).

Maintain communication within the inter-school system and seek assistance from central office staff to enhance performance.

Foster positive relationships with all staff members.

Adhere to established lines of authority.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Master's Degree in Educational Administration is preferred.

Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in school or program administration is preferred.

Three (3) to five (5) years of teaching experience is preferred.

Administrator Certification is required.

SALARY RANGE:
Based on qualifications and experience.
