Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced K-8 Music Educator to join our team at the Saginaw Area Consortium. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching music to students in grades K-8, using a holistic approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strong music curriculum for kindergarten to 8th-grade students, aligned with state-mandated standards.
  • Teach music classes, including instrumental music, using a variety of teaching methods and techniques.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and productive learning experience.
Requirements
  • Must have a deep understanding of elementary school students and their learning needs.
  • Must be certified by the State of Michigan as an elementary teacher with music endorsement.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Must have experience working with at-risk students and their parents.
  • Must receive a satisfactory response to P.A. 189 Letter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a shared-time program.
  • Knowledge of cooperative learning principles and Michigan Standards of Quality.
  • High level of proficiency in Google Docs, Microsoft Office, and Internet research.

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on providing a high-quality education to students. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others.
