The Chief of Major Gifts Strategy will oversee a portfolio of affluent donors and strategically engage potential contributors. This role is pivotal in transitioning individuals from interest to active investment in annual campaigns, endowments, and legacy contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a well-established portfolio of high-net-worth contributors.
  • Secure leadership and major donations through personalized requests and face-to-face engagements, collaborating with Board members, volunteers, and senior staff.
  • Maintain a diverse portfolio of donors at various stages of engagement, focusing on a top 25 and a bench of 50 prospective donors for personalized outreach.
  • Act as the primary contact for all donors within the portfolio, ensuring timely communication and appropriate follow-ups.
  • Utilize Salesforce for effective donor tracking and management, maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with the Prospect Research Team to identify potential leadership and major gift donors.
  • Supervise mid-level giving personnel.
  • Develop tailored donor engagement plans and implement long-term cultivation strategies.
  • Work with the Prospect Research Team to tailor requests based on donor interests and giving capacity.
  • Prepare proposals for major gifts and provide regular updates to donors.
  • Draft briefing materials for executives and Board members involved in donor interactions.
  • Enhance volunteer leadership capabilities to elevate Plan's visibility and broaden our supporter base.
  • Engage in professional networks to raise awareness of Plan within the philanthropic community.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven success in organizing and executing donor cultivation activities.
  • Experience in leading and motivating volunteer committees to identify and engage major gift prospects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident, personable, and persistently engaging demeanor.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently in a remote environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current philanthropic trends.
  • Familiarity with various planned giving options.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce is preferred.
  • Ability to cultivate personal relationships across diverse contexts.
  • Comfort in engaging with influential individuals.
  • Proven ability to secure and increase contributions from existing and prospective donors.
  • Ability to effectively represent Plan's mission to external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated passion for fundraising and a genuine interest in girls' rights and international development.
  • Comfortable initiating contact with potential donors and following up consistently.

Education and Experience:

  • A college degree with a minimum of 4 years in major gifts fundraising.
  • Experience in leading volunteer committees to cultivate major gift prospects.
  • Track record of securing significant financial contributions.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed fundraising targets.

Salary offers are based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity, with a target range of $80,000 - $120,000 annually.
