Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Director of Legal Affairs and Regulatory Strategy in managing various initiatives related to:
    • The organization's response to member resolution and crisis situations, which includes: (i) revising internal and external documentation; (ii) contributing to responses for consultations, particularly those concerning resolution; (iii) ensuring compliance with relevant standards while showcasing thought leadership; (iv) participating in exercises or external engagements to address significant issues; (v) analyzing and interpreting regulatory developments in this domain.
    • Possess an advanced degree (Law degree or PhD in a relevant field is advantageous).
    • Engage with financial market infrastructure forums and legal/regulatory groups.
  • Coordinate and manage the delivery of timely, high-quality regulatory outputs, including tailored presentations for discussions with authorities, while aligning expectations across various divisions and with regulatory stakeholders.
  • Monitor regulatory bodies, governmental agencies, and industry organizations for pertinent announcements or decisions that may affect the organization and its members regarding resolution or other matters.
  • Prepare regular updates for regulators, senior management, and the Board.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments (e.g., Risk, Compliance, and Legal) to provide a cohesive and forward-thinking perspective on resolution and related issues.
  • Support the Compliance & Regulatory Coordination Committee and assist with associated tasks.
  • Contribute to the annual updates of legal opinion summaries.
  • Assist the Legal Department with various legal matters as needed.
  • Facilitate the ongoing development of the Legal Affairs and Regulatory Strategy function as a knowledge hub for policy matters related to resolution.
  • Manage and enhance relationships with regulatory stakeholders, focusing on resolution and other regulatory developments.
  • Support the cultivation of relationships with the regulatory community and industry groups across jurisdictions concerning resolution and related issues.
  • Monitor governmental bodies and industry groups for decisions impacting the organization and its members regarding resolution and other matters.
Professional Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree required (Law degree or advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus).
  • Demonstrated academic excellence.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Experience in a law firm, governmental agency, or financial institution, particularly in resolution planning and access to financial market infrastructures.
  • Strong writing and drafting capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts quickly and apply that understanding effectively.
  • Exemplary judgment and practical approach.
  • High maturity level with the ability to engage with regulatory authorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear and concise language for diverse audiences.
  • Innovative thinker and adept problem solver.
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships and collaborate effectively both internally and externally.
  • Experience working with senior management.
  • BA/BS required.
