The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) stands as the premier professional women's soccer league in the United States, showcasing 14 teams and over 300 elite soccer athletes from around the world. The league is experiencing remarkable growth, setting new records for fan attendance and viewership.

Role Summary

As the Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs, you will be instrumental in providing comprehensive legal guidance to the NWSL. The ideal candidate will possess intelligence, diligence, initiative, reliability, and exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including sponsorship agreements, licensing contracts, media rights deals, joint ventures, consulting contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and various other legal instruments.
  • Oversee investigations related to breaches of the NWSL Policy to Prevent and Eliminate Workplace Discrimination, Harassment, and Bullying, as well as other league regulations.
  • Assist in governance matters for the league and teams, including ownership transactions and expansion initiatives.
  • Provide support on intellectual property issues, including trademark and copyright registration, maintenance, and enforcement.
  • Offer strategic legal counsel to business units regarding data management, processing, and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of league policies and procedures while interpreting relevant league rules.
  • Support risk management strategies and the administration of insurance policies.
  • Drive enhancements in policies and processes, including the creation of document templates; assess workflows and set priorities.
  • Engage in additional projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a prestigious law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and manage relationships effectively across various stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and resourcefulness in response to shifting priorities and requirements.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and embracing new challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments with precision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage communications and projects in a remote work setting.
